Alberta Bail Class Action
This certified class action is brought against the Province of Alberta for its systemic failure to conduct bail hearings within 24 hours of an arrest as required by the Criminal Code and the Charter.
Scotiabank Vacation Pay Class Action
This class action is brought against the Bank of Nova Scotia (Scotiabank) on behalf of a class of all Scotiabank employees who were not compensated for unused vacation days, or whose vacation and holiday pay were systemically miscalculated in a manner contrary to the Canada Labour Code, between December 12, 2020 until the date that the court certifies the action as a class action.
Immigration Detention
This is a certified class action against the Government of Canada on behalf of people who were held in prison for immigration-related purposes by the Canadian Border Security Agency (“CBSA”) between May 15, 2016 and July 5, 2024 (the “Class Period”).
Innu Day Schools
This proposed class action is brought on behalf of the Innu Nation and three of its members against the Government of Canada and the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador, concerning schools that operated in Labrador Innu communities prior to the Innu assuming control over their own education system. Between 1949 and 2009, provincial school boards and Catholic-affiliated institutions, with support from the federal government, operated schools in Sheshatshiu, Old Davis Inlet, Davis Inlet, and Natuashish.
